What is SEO?
Search engine optimization (SEO) is the practice of improving your site’s visibility on a search engine results page. It involves SEO practices like keyword research, Quality Content creation, HTML tag hierarchy, and link building. The goal is to drive organic traffic, attract potential clients, and grow your online presence.

Showit vs. WordPress for SEO
While both Showit and WordPress can be optimized effectively, WordPress has an SEO advantage due to its total control over various SEO elements and the extensive range of plugins available. WordPress allows for more granular customization and advanced SEO techniques, which can be advantageous for users who require more sophisticated SEO strategies. However, Showit’s integration with WordPress for blogging still provides robust SEO capabilities, making it a strong contender, depending on your specific needs and preferences.

Showit vs. Squarespace for SEO
Both Showit and Squarespace offer built-in SEO tools. However, Showit’s integration with WordPress gives it an edge, providing more flexibility and control over your SEO efforts. This integration allows Showit users to leverage powerful WordPress plugins like RankMath or Yoast, enhancing their ability to optimize content, manage meta tags, and track SEO performance more effectively. Additionally, Showit’s design flexibility and ease of use make it a preferred choice for creative professionals who want to maintain a high level of aesthetic appeal while also focusing on SEO.
Showit’s Built-In SEO Tools
1. Setting Page Title and Meta Description
Within Showit’s Design Settings, you can add a business name or brand name alongside Focus Keywords in your title tags. The right side of the editor is where you’ll see these fields. You can also set a Share Image to be displayed in Google search results.

2. Setting Image SEO Title & Image Alt Text
Name your image file name before uploading, and match it to your image title (“SEO Title” in screen clip). On the right-hand side of the editor, set your image alt text (“Description” in screen clip) so screen readers and search engines understand it.

3. Optimizing Images
Showit does basic image optimization, but you could still use a free tool like Squoosh.app to compress file size before uploading. This helps site speed and page speed. While these are not direct ranking factors, they do impact user experience and user signals, which is a ranking factor.
My favorite free image compression tool is Sqoosh.app.

4. Preventing Pages from Being Indexed
If you have a new page like a thank-you page, you can double-check in the Text Properties panel that it’s hidden from Google search results if needed:
#1. Select the page in the left-hand column.
#2. Go to “Advanced Settings.”
#3. Select the checkbox “Ask Google to ignore this page.”

5. SSL Certificates
SSL improves security, trust, and website SEO by showing browsers and visitors your site is safe.
6. WordPress Integration
Pairing Showit with a WordPress blog allows you to use WordPress plugins like the Yoast SEO plugin for SEO Services such as schema, sitemaps, and internal links.

7. Sitemap Generation
Showit automatically generates a sitemap, which is a file that lists all the pages on your site, helping search engines understand its structure and index it more efficiently. A sitemap is particularly useful if your site has a large archive of blog posts, frequently updated content, or many pages that are not easily linked together.
To access your Showit sitemap, go to: yourdomain.com/siteinfo.xml
For blog posts, you can use WordPress plugins like Yoast or Jetpack to generate a sitemap:
- Using Yoast for WordPress (preferred): Yoast SEO plugin automatically creates a sitemap for your blog posts.
- Using Jetpack for WordPress: Jetpack plugin also provides a sitemap feature for your blog.
Once you have your sitemap URLs, submit them to Google Search Console to ensure search engines are regularly checking for new content. This enhances your site’s SEO by improving its visibility and indexing.
8. Ability to add Redirects
Redirects automatically redirect users from an old URL to a new one, preventing broken links and sending them to your 404 page. This is an important aspect of SEO that many blog posts overlook. Here’s a quick summary of how to do it: Setting up redirects in Showit is manual, and setting up redirects for your WordPress blog is automated (once you set it up for the first time). Honestly, for this task, Showit’s documentation is perfect. Check it out:
