How To Verify Your Domain In Google Search Console

Ensuring that your website performs well in search engines starts with verifying your domain in Google Search Console.

This essential SEO tool helps you monitor, maintain, and troubleshoot your site’s presence in Google Search results.

In this video, I’ll walk you through the entire process to make sure you can easily verify your domain and start utilizing the powerful features of Google Search Console.

One of the easiest ways to verify your domain name is to add a TXT record to your domain registrar account. Here are popular domain registrars and the corresponding instructions.

Add a TXT record in Siteground

Add a TXT record in Go Daddy

Add a TXT record in Bluehost

Add a TXT record in Hostinger

Add a TXT record in Namecheap

Hello, in this quick video, I will show you how to verify that you own a domain so that you can use Google Search Console.

The back of your screen that’s greyed out may look slightly different from mine because I already have a lot of domains. But once you create your Google Search Console account, you’ll see a little pop-up that looks something like this.

The very first thing you’re going to do is just put your domain name in there. You don’t want to have anything extra like HTTPS. Literally just like the domain and then the .com or the .io or whatever it may be. So, for example,, etc. I’m just using one of my clients, which I am setting up for her right now, and I figured I’d record this video while I’m doing it.

So, I’m going to click continue, and then it’s going to give me a few different options for verifying that I own the domain.

So, as you can see, I can do a text validation or a name. I prefer doing txt so if you have the option definitely select txt you most likely will.

You’ll copy this code and then go to wherever your domain name is registered.

So, for me, that’s SiteGround. And I highly, highly, highly recommend SiteGround. It’s a 20 out of 10 web host if you ask me.

I never plan on switching; Siteground is just so good for the price. Ok, so what you’re going to do is you’re going to log into SiteGround. I’ll put links for navigating to the particular page that you need to get to in the description.

I’ll give you the steps if you have GoDaddy, Bluehost, or BigScoots so you can easily find how to add a TXT record.

But what you’re going to do when you’re in your SiteGround account or whatever hosting account you have is you’re going to look for a section relating to domains and then you’re going to want to find the DNS zone editor.

And the screen itself may look a little different, again depending on what website host that you’re using, but what you’re going to do is you’re going to want to create a new record. 2:10 So in my case, I want to do a TXT verification and in the name field you’re not going to put anything, you’re going just to leave it completely blank.

And in the value field, you’ll paste the value from right over here.

So, the cache duration setting, the TTL—TTL stands for time to live—I always just make it as short as possible.

This will vary depending on your website host, but I like to keep it as short as possible. So, I’m going to click Create.

And then now I am going to click verify.

Okay and see this is actually, I’m glad that this happened because sometimes it will error out because it takes a while for this to register across the entire internet. So it’s not uncommon at all for this to happen. So sometimes you just need to check back and try it again later and see now I’m verified. So now I can go to the property.

And so that is it when it comes to verifying your domain so that you can use Google Search Console and start tracking your performance. I hope you found this helpful.
